Today at approximately 9:25 a.m., the Littleton Police Department and Rocky Mountain Safe Streets Task Force responded to a bank robbery at the Bellco Credit Union located at 8001 Southpark Way, Littleton, Colorado. The suspect, later identified as Steven Kent, age 44 of Centennial, entered the bank and presented what appeared to be a bomb or explosive device to the victim teller. A dye pack exploded as Kent fled the scene of the robbery with the stolen money and left a trail of red smoke as Kent drove away in his truck. A witness obtained a description of the truck—a green late 1970’s to 1980’s model truck with a black and white license plate. As a result, a short time later, a member of the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office initiated a traffic stop on a truck matching the same description at County Line Road and Yosemite Street. The driver of that truck (a green Ford truck with a Louisiana black and white license plate) was Kent. Kent’s fingers were dye stained and the dye stained stolen money was recovered inside the truck. The Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office Bomb Squad responded to assist at the scene of the traffic stop. If anyone has any information pertaining to this bank robbery, please call the Rocky Mountain Safe Streets Task Force at (303) 629-7171. SA Kathy Wright |
