PUEBLO RESIDENT ARRESTED FOR TRANSPORTATION OF CHILD PORNOGRAPHY

        DENVER –Robert J. Garrity, Jr., Special Agent in Charge of the Denver Division of the FBI, and Troy A. Eid, United States Attorney for the District of Colorado announced that ELIE QUINONEZ, age 35, of  Pueblo , Colorado, was arrested on charges of transportation of child pornography after a criminal complaint was filed in the United States District Court of Colorado. 

     QUINONEZ was arrested without incident this morning at 8 AM by the FBI Agents in Lubbock , Texas .  His detention hearing will be held in US Magistrate Court for the Northern District of Texas on October 24, 2007 .     

       The criminal complaint alleges that the defendant used his computer to transport an image containing child pornography via the Internet.  If convicted of this count, QUINONEZ faces not less than 5 years, and not more than 20 years in federal prison, and up to a $250,000 fine.  The case was initiated by the New Waterford Police Department and subsequently investigated by the Greeley Police Department, Pueblo Police Department and the FBI.  QUINONEZ is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Habib Nasrullah.

        “Children should be protected through the investigation and prosecution of alleged child predators,” said FBI Special Agent in Charge Robert J. Garrity, Jr.. “The FBI is committed to investigate and apprehend those who violate the law through the production, distribution, and transportation of child pornography in order to ensure the safety of our communities.”

               The charges are only allegations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless or until proven guilty.
